Preserving the Legacy of Friesian Horses
A Friesian inspection, also known as a Keuring, is an evaluation of a Friesian horse's conformation and movement. The goal is to determine if the horse is suitable for breeding and to enter the Royal Friesian Studbook (KFPS).
How it works
-
Independent judges evaluate the horse's conformation and movement
-
Judges compare the horse to the standard set in the Breeding Book Regulations
-
Dutch "Runners" put the horses through their paces so the judges can evaluate them
Predicates
-
Horses can earn predicates such as Star, Crown, Model, Sport, and Sport Elite
-
Mares can earn the Preferent predicate on their offspring
-
Stallions can earn the Preferent predicate if they have a lasting influence on the breed
Benefits
Inspections can be a valuable tool for breeders and their breeding programs. They can also be a fun and educational experience for owners and spectators.
