On Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded to the area of 41100 N. Rattlesnake Road for a report of a crashed and abandoned vehicle. Deputies learned the suspect had fled the area and requested assistance from the Queen Creek Police Department (QCPD) due to the close proximity.
Officers began searching the area and located a subject matching the suspect’s description in the 1200 block of W. Queen Creek Road. When officers attempted to make contact, the suspect fled on foot into the Ironwood Crossing neighborhood. Officers received additional information indicating the suspect was considered a danger to law enforcement. Dispatch also received multiple calls from residents reporting sightings of a subject matching the description, including images from residents showing the individual was armed.
During a yard-to-yard search of the area, officers encountered an armed subject matching the suspect’s description. Although less lethal tools were deployed, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was shot by officers and pronounced deceased at the scene.
A QCPD Officer was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained during the incident. He has since been released and is doing well.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. The officer-involved shooting is being handled by Mesa PD as part of the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team (EVCIRT).
