Queen Creek Town Council to Consider Town Manager’s Recommended Budget for Fiscal Year 2026/27

Post Date:04/07/2026 10:00 am

The Town of Queen Creek’s budget serves as a spending plan that is developed throughout the year incorporating both projected revenues and expenses. The Town Manager’s Recommended Budget, available for review on the Town’s website budget page, will be considered by the Town Council on April 15 at 3 p.m. at the Community Chambers. The Budget Meeting will occur prior to the regularly scheduled Town Council meeting.

The Town Manager’s Recommended Budget for FY 2026/27 (FY27) is $840.6 million, with 56% of the entire budget dedicated to infrastructure, prioritizing public safety, water self-sufficiency and transportation. A number of projects will occur over multiple years, but the full project costs are budgeted in FY27 (including any carryforward), as required by Arizona budgeting practices. Two major projects in the FY27 budget include the remaining design and full construction of the police headquarters ($93.4 million) and the final payment and related infrastructure for Harquahala ($168.3 million).

“The FY27 recommended budget was developed in an environment of slowing revenue and population growth, persistent inflation, tight labor markets, and geopolitical turmoil that has heightened the uncertainty about future economic conditions,” stated Town Manager Bruce Gardner. “The Town’s financial condition remains sound and will require careful management over the next several years to maintain fiscal balance and adequate reserves.”

The Town Council considers the Town Manager’s recommended budget and ultimately adopts a final budget for the fiscal year. The next steps for the Town’s budget include:

  • April 15 – Town Council Budget Meeting to Consider Recommended Budget
  • May 6 – Town Council votes on Tentative Budget (the expenditure ceiling)
  • May 20 – Town Council votes on Final Budget (all programs and services)
  • June 3 – The Town Council adopts the property tax levy (set to maintain the existing property tax rate freeze approved by Council in FY23)
  • July 1 – The 2026/27 fiscal year begins, and the approved budget goes into effect
