The Town of Queen Creek’s proposed budget, available for review on the Town’s website, will be considered by the Town Council at the May 6 meeting for tentative approval, with the final consideration and approval scheduled for the May 20 Town Council meeting.
Arizona law requires that all municipalities adopt an annual, balanced budget. Arizona budgeting practices also require that the full costs of projects are included in the budget, even when the projects will occur over multiple years. The Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget totals $840.6 million, with 56% dedicated to infrastructure, prioritizing public safety, water self-sufficiency and transportation.
Two major, multi-year projects in the FY27 budget include the remaining design and full construction of the police headquarters and the final payment and related infrastructure for Harquahala water, an essential component of Queen Creek’s water strategy.
The Town Council considers the Town Manager’s recommended budget and ultimately adopts a final budget for the fiscal year. The next steps for the Town’s budget include:
- May 6 – Town Council meeting: Town Council considers and votes on the Tentative Budget (the expenditure ceiling)
- May 20 – Town Council meeting: Town Council considers and votes on Final Budget (all programs and services) after public hearing
- June 3 – Town Council meeting: The Town Council adopts the property tax levy (slated to be set at the rate to maintain the property tax freeze previously approved by Council, saving residents money)
- July 1 – The 2026-27 fiscal year begins, and the approved budget goes into effect
Information regarding upcoming Town Council meetings is available on the Town’s website, in addition to the April 15 budget meeting.
