Queen Creek Celebrates Constitution Week and America 250

The Town of Queen Creek is celebrating Constitution Week Sept. 12-19 with several opportunities to honor our nation’s history as part of the Town’s yearlong celebration of America 250.

The week will include a student art and poetry contest, a free community concert on Sept. 12, recognition at the Sept. 16 Town Council meeting and special activities during Founders’ Day on Sept. 19.

Patriotic Art & Poetry Contest Constitution week booth

K-12 students attending schools within Queen Creek are invited to submit an original poem or piece of artwork celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Entries will be accepted through Aug. 31 and can be dropped off with a completed entry form at the Queen Creek Municipal Services Building, 22358 S. Ellsworth Road.

Winners will be recognized at the Sept. 16 Town Council meeting, and selected entries will be displayed at Founders’ Day on Sept. 19. Prizes will be donated by local businesses including Pecan Lake Entertainment.

Community Concert

Kick off Constitution Week with a free Community Concert on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature musical guests from Queen Creek high schools as the community comes together to celebrate Constitution Week and America’s 250th anniversary.

Constitution Week Recognition

The celebration will continue at the Sept. 16 Town Council meeting with an Honor Guard presentation of the colors, recognition of the student contest winners and a proclamation recognizing Constitution Week.

Founders’ Day

Wrap up Constitution Week at Founders’ Day on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 5-9 p.m. at Frontier Family Park, 20039 S. 220th St.

Visit the Constitution Week booth to view selected student entries, meet Town Council and staff and participate in a service activity through JustServe. Participants can also enjoy many family-friendly activities, including Founders’ Fashion Gallop, Battle of the Badge, relays, FFA and 4-H zones, carnival games, mini golf, a Nerf Battle Zone and more.
