July is National Parks & Recreation Month, a nationwide celebration recognizing the impact Parks and Recreation have on building healthier, stronger and more connected communities. This year’s theme, “The Power Of,” highlights the incredible ways parks, programs, facilities, and recreation professionals create opportunities for connection, wellness and belonging every day.

Throughout the month, the community will celebrate:

The Power of Connection: Parks and recreation is where relationships grow, cultures meet and communities bond.
The Power of Play: From playgrounds to programs to youth sports, play fuels creativity, joy and lifelong learning.
The Power of Community: Public spaces offer room for everyone to gather, celebrate and heal.
The Power of Nature: Nature restores and inspires us, and parks ensure everyone can access its benefits.
The Power of Belonging: Welcoming parks and programs make every person feel valued.
The Power of Well-Being: Parks and recreation advances health, resilience and shared community benefits.

From recreation and fitness to family-friendly activities and community engagement opportunities, the Town of Queen Creek community can take part in experiences designed to bring people together all month long. The full list of activities is available below.

THE POWER OF PLAY: PARK POP-UP

Celebrate the power of play at our local parks! Join Parks & Recreation for a fun, family-friendly celebration filled with games, activities and refreshing popsicles. Come play, connect and enjoy time together in your community. *While supplies last.

THE POWER OF PLAY: WIBIT WEDNESDAYS

Celebrate the power of play during Parks & Recreation Month at the Queen Creek Aquatic Center! Wibit Wednesdays bring exciting splash-filled fun with the inflatable Wibit Action Tower. Dive into adventure, test agility skills, and enjoy an action-packed aquatic experience.

All pool and amenity rules apply.

THE POWER OF PLAY: LITTLE EXPLORERS

Little Explorers features a new themed activity each week designed to keep children engaged through sensory play, movement and imagination. Activities include nature exploration bins, park-inspired obstacle courses and interactive games like Park Ranger Says and an animal movement game.

Designed for ages 18 months-8 years, each activity is simple, flexible, and well-suited for a drop-in environment while encouraging creativity, active play and connections to Parks & Recreation.

THE POWER OF COMMUNITY: GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

Throughout July, Group Fitness Classes will celebrate Parks & Recreation Month by highlighting the power of community through movement, connection and shared wellness goals. Classes are designed to encourage consistency, participation and a sense of belonging in a supportive fitness environment.

How It Works:

Pick up your July Group Fitness Punch Card at the Welcome Desk and get ready to move
Earn 1 punch for every group fitness class you attend throughout the month
After each class, your instructor or our welcome desk team will punch and verify your card
Hit 12 classes in July to earn an entry into the group fitness classes prize drawing

Prize: $25 gift card

Celebrate the power of connection at the Queen Creek Recreation & Aquatic Center! Join Parks & Recreation at this back-to-school family-friendly event for an evening of fun. Connect through games, enjoy activities, get creative with crafts and snack on treats. *While supplies last. The first 50 attendees will receive a free notebook and a pack of pencils!

THE POWER OF PLAY: WATER BALLOON DAY

Experience the power of play with Parks & Recreation with a water balloon day at Hangout HQ! Step outside the usual indoor fun and enjoy an exciting outdoor event featuring water balloon relays, games and splash-filled activities. Towels and dryers will be available to help participants dry off after the fun.

THE POWER OF WELL-BEING: 12 DAYS OF YOUTH FITNESS

Celebrate the power of well-being at the Recreation Center with 12 Days of Youth Fitness for ages 9-12! This 12-day consecutive challenge is designed to build bodyweight training skills, encourage healthy habits and promote an active lifestyle. No equipment required - just dedication, movement and motivation to grow stronger and feel great.

Celebrate the power of community during Parks & Recreation Month at the Men’s 3v3 Basketball Tournament! This double-elimination tournament brings players together for friendly competition, teamwork and community connection on the court. Grab a team and experience the energy, camaraderie and excitement that Parks & Recreation programs inspire.

THE POWER OF NATURE: PAINT AND PLANT

Celebrate the power of nature during Parks & Recreation Month with creativity, connection and growth at the Paint & Plant workshop. This hands-on experience invites participants to paint and decorate a personalized planter, plant seeds and watch something beautiful grow.

Designed to inspire creativity and meaningful connection, the workshop highlights the ways nature can restore, uplift and bring communities together in a fun and relaxing environment.
