Post Date:12/03/2020 7:30 am

It’s official – Chief Randy Brice was sworn in as the first Chief of Police of the Queen Creek Police Department at the Dec. 2 Queen Creek Town Council meeting. Chief Brice was hired in July and has been working diligently on the complex tasks related to establishing a new municipal police department.

Mayor Swearing In Chief Brice“I have the distinct honor of performing the swearing in this evening,” shared Mayor Gail Barney. “Chief Brice has been working very hard over the past several months and this is a very exciting moment for our community. Establishing a police department is no simple task – our residents, businesses and visitors are fortunate to have Chief Brice at the helm as we go through this complicated process. Congratulations to Chief Brice and a special thanks for his commitment to the safety of our fantastic community.”

Chief Brice began his career with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in 1992. During that time, he worked in many capacities throughout the organization and earned several unique certifications including Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Paramedic (CEP). In May 2016, he retired from the Sheriff’s Office at the rank of Captain. Shortly thereafter, Chief Brice joined the Gilbert Police Department as a Commander; he served as the Interim Chief of Police and Assistant Chief of Police over the Investigation-Support Bureau before joining the Queen Creek Police Department.

“While the past several months has been a whirlwind, I continue to be blown away by the amazing support from this community,” stated Chief Randy Brice. “This is truly a historic process and I am honored to officially be the first Chief of the Queen Creek Police Department. From the very beginning, I committed to develop an organization that serves with Chief Brice with TC respect, compassion and trust. I am excited to continue this challenging and rewarding journey with the Queen Creek community.”

The Queen Creek Town Council approved establishing a municipal police department in March following a comprehensive police study and extensive public outreach. MCSO will remain the contracted law enforcement provider during the transition. The Town has been working closely with MCSO and they have committed to working with the Town to ensure a smooth transition, with the Queen Creek Police Department anticipated to go live in January 2022. MCSO District 6 is located at 20727 E. Civic Parkway. For additional information about MCSO, visit QueenCreek.org/MCSO.

The Queen Creek Police Department will welcome additional command staff in December with recruitment for the remaining sworn positions anticipated to open in early 2021. To be notified of job openings, please sign up at QueenCreek.org/eNews.
