Small cell wireless facilities are antennas that are designed to increase network capacity and improve coverage in areas with high demand.

They are typically installed on existing structures (streetlights, utility poles, traffic signals, etc.)

Small cell wireless facilities must comply with federal safety standards.

• Emission levels are required to remain well below established public safety limits
• Local governments do not regulate radio frequency emissions but ensure installations meet all applicable laws

There is no public input process outlined or required in State statute related to small cell facilities.

No, small cells are much smaller, lower-powered, and usually attached to existing structures.

The Town of Queen Creek allows cell towers to be constructed on Town owned property. The following documents provide more information on potential locations and lease rates:

The Town meets with cellular providers regularly to encourage additional coverage and increase capacity, as it is the provider's responsibility to provide the infrastructure necessary for their services. The Town is constantly looking for ways to improve cell service in Queen Creek.

In 2022, the Town completed a connectivity study and has identified areas where the cellular providers can improve the capacity. Ultimately it is up to the respective cell phone providers and private landowners to make these investments and we will continue to work with them.

The addition of small cell wireless facilities will continue to help improve services.
