Home MenuAccessory Structure Information
Before starting the construction of an accessory structure—such as a patio cover, ramada, detached garage or shop—it’s important to understand the applicable regulations. Accessory structures must comply with all accessory structure and setback rules outlined in the Town’s Zoning Ordinance, along with the International Building Codes and other relevant building codes adopted by the Town, and may require a building permit.
This page provides an overview of the requirements needed for a complete building permit application and guidance to ensure your project meets Town standards.
All accessory structures must adhere to regulations regarding lot coverage, height, design, and setbacks. Please note that these requirements can vary depending on your subdivision and zoning district.
For specific information about setbacks, maximum lot coverage, or allowable building height—or if you have any questions—please contact the Planning Staff at 480-358-3092.
Additionally, your Homeowners Association (HOA) or CC&Rs may impose further restrictions on accessory structures. Be sure to consult your HOA and review your CC&Rs before beginning construction.
