Pavement Preservation Program
Ellsworth Loop Road Striping Upgrades Project: Three locations along Ellsworth Loop Road have been scheduled for striping upgrades to help improve traffic flow. The majority of this work is scheduled to take place during night hours from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. to minimize the impact to traffic. Roads will remain open; however, lane and possible turn restrictions will be in place.
Locations/primary changes:
- Southbound Ellsworth Loop Road, from the Rittenhouse Road intersection to the north – adding a dedicated right turn lane for southbound Ellsworth Road at Rittenhouse Road, primarily by adjusting the existing lane striping.
- Walnut Road, east and west of Ellsworth Loop Road – adding dedicated right turn lanes for both east and westbound Walnut Road traffic at Ellsworth Loop Road, by converting existing striping to provide a single left turn lane, a thru lane and a dedicated right turn lane.
- Queen Creek Road, west of Ellsworth Loop Road – adding a dedicated right turn lane for eastbound Queen Creek Road traffic at Ellsworth Loop Road, by converting the existing striping to provide a left turn lane, a thru lane and a dedicated right turn lane.
Schedule:
- Currently scheduled to begin Sunday, April 5 at 8 p.m. to Monday, April 6 at 8 a.m., crews will remove existing striping and install temporary lane reflectors to maintain traffic until new striping is reinstalled.
- Scheduled to take place during daytime hours, Monday, April 6, crews will install signage.
- Scheduled from Monday, April 6 at 8 p.m. to Tuesday, April 7 at 9 a.m., crews will apply slurry seal in areas where striping was removed and then reapply striping.
Spring Arterial Road Micro Seal Project
The Town of Queen Creek has contracted with VSS International to conduct micro seal pavement applications on arterial and residential streets, with the following current schedule.
Crews are scheduled to apply an asphalt micro seal surface treatment to the following streets beginning April 13 in the following order:
- South side of Chandler Heights Road, between Recker Road and Power Road
- Sossaman Road, from the north side of the Ocotillo Road intersection to the north side of the Rittenhouse Road intersection
- Rittenhouse Road, from Germann Road to Sossaman Road
- Ocotillo Road, between Recker Road and Power Road
- Ocotillo Road, between Hawes Road and Ellsworth Road
- West side of Signal Butte Road, from Ocotillo Road to Appleby Road
- Hawes Road, from the north side of the Chandler Heights Road intersection to the north side of the Riggs Road intersection
- Chandler Heights Road, between Hawes Road and Ellsworth Road
- Combs Road, between Meridian Road and Gantzel Road
Prior to work beginning, existing striping will be removed. Micro seal application work on each street is expected to take approximately two weekdays. Traffic will be shifted around the work areas, maintaining at least one lane in each direction. Left turns may be restricted. Access will be maintained; however, there may be brief restrictions as work crosses driveways and side streets. Officers and/or crews will be on site to assist with the management of traffic. Following this work, crews will reapply striping and raise utilities, such as manholes and valves, to be flush with the road surface, as necessary. In the event of inclement weather or resource availability issues, work will move to the next possible working day, as conditions improve.
Spring Residential Neighborhood Micro Seal Project
Crews are scheduled to apply an asphalt micro seal surface treatment to the following neighborhoods:
- Queen Creek Ranchettes – currently scheduled April 9 - 14
- Orchard Ranchettes 3 – currently scheduled April 9 - 14
Streets will be sealed one-half of each street at a time with one lane of traffic maintained on the opposite side. Residents will receive a door hanger in advance of the surface treatment with confirmed dates and additional details for their neighborhood and signage will also be posted on the road when work will begin soon. Please refer to the door hanger for the most updated information.
Access will be restricted, as necessary, when work crosses side streets and driveways. Flagmen will be on site to assist with the management of traffic. To avoid the possibility of getting the tar-like substance on cars or driveway, please plan NOT to enter or exit driveways while the application process is occurring. Following this work, crews will adjust utilities, such as manholes and valves, to be flush with the road surface, as necessary.
On-street parking will be restricted during this work, and No Parking signs will be placed prior to work taking place. Vehicles left on the street may be towed. Please have trash and recycle bins out by 6 a.m. on collection days. Water may damage the installation of the surface treatment. Please do not wash cars or have sprinklers set to come on 24 hours before the application dates, during the application, or 24 hours after the application. In the event of inclement weather or resource availability issues, work will be rescheduled, and residents will be renotified via door hanger.
Thank you for your patience during this work.
