Ellsworth Road (City of Mesa)

Work is underway for the City of Mesa’s roadway project to widen Ellsworth Road to six travel lanes and dedicated bike lanes. The overall project will be completed in phases.

Current status from City of Mesa:
  • SB Ellsworth Road restricted to two lanes from SR24 to Legacy (off ramp allows dual right turns)
  • SB Ellsworth is restricted to one lane from Legacy to Pecos/Willis
Upcoming:
  • July 22 - Reopen SB to two lanes, Legacy to Pecos
  • July 22 - Extend SB one-lane Willis to Germann
  • July 22 - Restrictions on Germann, west of Ellsworth, including no right turns from WB Germann to SB Ellsworth
The project has an estimated completion schedule of 2027.

To minimize disruption along this high-traffic corridor, construction segments will be phased.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Travel lanes will be reduced to one lane through the active work areas under construction.

  • The opposite side of the roadway will generally have no lane restrictions when possible.

  • Electronic message boards will be used to post restrictions and dates. Alternate routes and signed detours will be posted to avoid delays.

  • Drivers should expect slower traffic and possible delays through the active work zones.

  • Access to business driveways and intersecting roads will largely be maintained throughout the project.
