Ellsworth Road (City of Mesa)
Work is anticipated to begin soon for the City of Mesa’s roadway project to widen Ellsworth Road to six travel lanes and dedicated bike lanes.
Ellsworth Road will be CLOSED nightly 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Dec. 19 to Dec. 22 from Willis to Legacy.
The overall project will be completed in phases, slated to start with phase 1 on the northbound side, generally from Germann to Ray. Segment 1, Germann to Pecos, is anticipated to start Jan. 5, 2026. NB Ellsworth will be restricted to one lane from Germann to Pecos during segment one.
The project has an estimated completion schedule of early 2027.
To minimize disruption along this high-traffic corridor, construction segments will be phased.
Traffic Impacts:
-
Travel lanes will be reduced to one lane through the active work areas under construction.
-
The opposite side of the roadway will generally have no lane restrictions when possible.
-
Electronic message boards will be used to post restrictions and dates. Alternate routes and signed detours will be posted to avoid delays.
-
Drivers should expect slower traffic and possible delays through the active work zones.
-
Access to business driveways and intersecting roads will largely be maintained throughout the project.
