Cliff Mattice

Town Attorney

Cliff Mattice has practiced municipal law since 1994, with more than three decades of experience spanning both public services and private practice. He began his career with the City of Tempe, then joined Mariscal, Weeks, McIntyre & Friedlander, P.A., which later combined with Dickinson Wright PLLC, where he practiced municipal law. He subsequently served for 10 years as the Town Attorney and Prosecutor for the Town of Florence, Arizona, before his appointment to his current position as the first in-house Town Attorney for the Town of Queen Creek. He is a graduate of the Arizona State University College of Law (now the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law). Mr. Mattice has appeared as an advocate before the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, United States District Court, D.Arizona, Supreme Court of Arizona, and Court of Appeals of Arizona, Division 1.

Town Attorney's Office

The Queen Creek Town Attorney, Cliff Mattice, was appointed by the Town Council and serves as the legal counselor and advisor of the Mayor, Town Council, Town's boards and commissions, Town Manager, Town management and each of the departments. The Town Attorney's Office duties include drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, real estate documents, contracts, intergovernmental agreements, and preparing written legal opinions and correspondence. To promote the health and safety of Queen Creek's residents, we maintain high standards in prosecuting civil violations of the Queen Creek Town Code and Zoning Ordinance and respecting the constitutions of the United States and the State of Arizona.The Town Attorney's Office manages the work of special outside counsel and also works closely with counsel retained by the Town's insurance carrier to defend the Town against any claims or suits filed against it.

It is the intention of the Town Attorney's Office to proactively address legal concerns confronting the Town to enhance opportunities as well as to mitigate liability.
