The next Town of Queen Creek election will be the Primary1 to be held on July 21, 2026 for the purpose of electing a Mayor and three (3) Council Members, each to a four-year term.
Pursuant to A.R.S. §§ 16-311 and 16-341, aspiring candidates for local office, seeking a nomination for the Primary Election must file a Statement of Interest with the Town Clerk no later than the first nomination petition signature. Nomination petition signatures collected before the date the Statement of Interest is filed are invalid and subject to challenge.
Filing a Statement of Interest indicates that a person is collecting petition signatures for a possible nomination. However, it is not a formal declaration of candidacy – filing a nomination paper is the formal declaration of candidacy. Filing a Statement of Interest also does not mean that a candidate will appear on the ballot for a particular election.
To appear on the ballot, an aspiring candidate must submit valid nomination documents (including a nomination paper and sufficient petition signatures) by the applicable deadline and successfully defend against any nomination challenge filed in court.
1Governor Katie Hobbs signed emergency legislation (HB2022, elections; July primary; curing; observers) into law, moving the Primary Election and all its corresponding deadlines up by two weeks.
