A recap of what your Town Council has been up to during the month of April. 

At the April 1 Town Council Meeting, the Town Council recognized the first group of Star Students and Star Teachers. This annual recognition is an opportunity for each school in Queen Creek to nominate one student and one teacher for success throughout the school year.

Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor McClure and Council Members Benning, Brown and Martineau also recognized the beneficiaries of the Light the World Giving Machine event, which was held in November and December at Pecan Lake Entertainment Center.

The Town Council also recognized CASA Volunteer Week and Week of the Young Child with proclamations at the April 1 Town Council Meeting.

The East Valley Mayor's Prayer Breakfast was held on April 8 at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve. Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor McClure and Council Members Benning and Martineau attended the event.

QC Volunteers held its volunteer appreciation dinner on April 9 at the Queen Creek Olive Mill. Mayor Wheatley provided remarks and Vice Mayor McClure and Council Members Martineau and Oliphant handed out awards.

The Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce hosted Coffee & a Mic with Pinal County Supervisor Mike Goodman on April 10, Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor McClure and Council Member Brown attended.

The Town Council held their annual budget meeting on April 15, where they review the Town Manager's proposed budget and hear presentations from various Town departments.

On April 16, For our Town Queen Creek held its quarterly meeting. Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor McClure and Council Member Oliphant attended, with Mayor Wheatley providing welcome remarks.

Vice Mayor McClure attended a tour of the new ITSB-12 Building at the Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus on April 16 as part of the PHX East Valley Partnership Board of Directors Meeting.

First Credit Union held its ribbon cutting on April 24. Vice Mayor McClure attended to provide remarks.

Congressman Andy Biggs held the reception for the Congressional Art Contest at the Queen Creek Communiversity. Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor McClure and Council Members Martineau and Padilla attended.

The 4th Annual Queen Creek Rotary Club Run for Resilience was hosted at Pecan Lake Entertainment Center on April 25. Mayor Wheatley kicked off the race and Vice Mayor McClure and Council Member Oliphant attended to support the event.

Sossaman Farms held a ribbon cutting for its Homestead Malting Co on April 28. Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor Mcclure and Council Member Oliphant attended the ribbon cutting to celebrate.
