A recap of what your Town Council has been up to during the month of June. 

The Town held What's Poppin' in Queen Creek on Tuesday, June 2 at the Queen Creek Recreation and Aquatic Center. Council Member Robin Benning attended to thank event volunteers and speak with attendees. 

The Queen Creek Police Department held the ceremonial groundbreaking of its new headquarters on Monday, June 8. Mayor Julia Wheatley provided remarks and Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor McClure and Council Member Brown participated in the groundbreaking. 

At the June 17 Town Council Meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council recognized America's semiquincentennial by issuing a proclamation in honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. 

The Town Council also recognized a local Queen Creek student, Kitelynn, who was one of the first-place winners of the nationwide America's Field Trip art contest. 

At the June 17 Town Council Meeting, the Town Council gave an employee recognition to longtime Executive Assistant Missy Gunter, who is retiring. Missy served the Town Manager's Office and Town Council for more than 14 years. 

Following the June 17 Town Council Meeting, students from a summer government program at Crismon High School attended a Q&A session with Vice Mayor McClure and Council Members Benning, Martineau, Oliphant and Padilla. 

The Queen Creek Juneteenth Jubilee was held at Desert Mountain Park on Saturday, June 20. Council Member Dawn Oliphant provided remarks and she presented the Town's proclamation honoring 2026 Juneteenth, along with QCPD Chief Randy Brice.
